Before going freelance, I was a reporter and the youngest ever night news editor on The Telegraph’s Business desk in London, before going on to build the overnight news operation at the Daily Express and Daily Star from a one-man band into a team of 10. I’ve also worked for the Sunday Express, MailOnline and the Daily Mirror – with spells freelancing at titles including The Sun and ITV News.
I also worked as a news and entertainment photographer for Getty Images and the Associated Press, plus clients like the National Trust and Amnesty International.
In 2018, I moved to Dubai to join Time Out as Digital Editor, with responsibility for the growth of everything from social media to newsletters and push notifications, and went on to manage digital strategy for other key regional titles.
After that, I spent several years as a Senior Account Director at APCO Worldwide in Dubai, Bahrain and Riyadh, where I consulted on communications and digital strategy for clients including the Saudi Arabian government, Bahrain’s Economic Development Board and several UAE ministries.
Now, I freelance for magazines and newspapers around the world, while travelling the globe reviewing hotels in my role as Editor-in-Chief of Middle East Traveller. And amidst it all, I've perfected the fine art of fitting a week's wardrobe into a carry-on.
My writing and photography has been published by global outlets including:
